Mohawk Dam - Picture Page
Pictures taken on 3-3-2011
Compare the pictures to that of the "aerial view" from Google Maps, I'd say there was a LOT of water out there that normally is not there
By the way, the wind was perfect, a steady NW wind, about 10-12 mph from the NW, perfectly perpendicular to the face of the dam. I flew and old beater HLG and the biggest problem I had was keeping the altitude down. I was surprised at just how high the lift band was, on the order of 400-500 feet above the top of the dam. For landing, I chose to play it safe and divert to the not yet under water flat landing area to the west. All in all, a fun day
Remember if you are going to to the dam this time of year, approach the dam from the east on 715 as 715 is closed just west of the Dam, not exactly sure where on the east end as I did not explore that.
